Some videos I've been watching alot

Cheers to creative post Title's...

For the past week, I've watched both of these videos a numberrr of times. The first one: sound provided by the Sweedish Sweetheart, Lykke Li and visuals provided by Mattias Montero. Don't hesitate to watch it Again.

In the second, director NABIL convinces us he IS the girl with kaleidoscope eyes and the Samalian-born rapper/musician/poet K'Naan reissues his warnings to the Fake Thugs of hip hop.

Both videos offer equally stunning visuals and sounds from the young, emerging talent of today. Do not sleep on these two..

Dub(do)Work mixtape - July 2009

A special lineup for this month's Dub(do)Work mixtape. To start things off, I've got a track from the wildly entertaining, King of the Ghetoo himself, Ron Artest. Ron Ron gives us a very unique tribute to the fallen King of pop. Be Sure to check this one out. It has all the good signs of a classic - a Sing-ALong hook, Heart felt lyrics and an overtone of comedy that forces you to listen to it over and over and over and over Again.

And with the fairly recent release of La Roux's debut, self entitled album, I have included one of my favorite cuts off the album, Tigerlily and a Mad Decent remix of her song, Quicksand. And speaking of Mad Decent, if you see Major Lazer coming to your town anytime soon, do yourself a favor and Go Check Them Out. They put on a spectacular live performance, that will surely have your eardrums ringing until noon the next day (!).

And if none of the above sounds interesting to you, the new jams from MGMT, Amanda Blank, N.A.S.A and Killa Cam should do the job. Oooh a special highlight for the man out of Columbia, South Carolina, Washed Out. His song, "Get Up" is a lo-fi synth special, sure to send the grooves runnin' thru.

Oh and one more. Last but certainly definitely never least, The CalifornianTexan in charge of the KENYADIG site we've come to know and love, has unleashed the final cut off his debut mixtape - Sweat for Me, featuring the over-an-hour long Monsterjam, The Thrill of It. This mix has been described as a "sense-assaulting laser orgy" by some and a "dope ass dance party- starter" by others. Whichever way you want to describe it, it will surely make you move. TURN IT UP.

And without further ado...the Dub(do)Work - July 2009 mixtape...

10K LB Hamburger TOUR

Hey, if you're in Houston and have no plans for the evening, head on over to Warehouse Live, for what is sure to be one of the Better shows of the year. Although the flier you see above is a bit misleading. The Baltimore emcee and M.I.A protégé, Rye Rye, has dropped from the tour. But, do not fret, for her replacement is someone I (and you) will be a bit more excited to see - d(d)w favorite Theophilus London! If your memory serves you right, you can recall Mach 3 and I running into the Brooklyn-based rhymer at the taqueria across from theFader fort in Austin. The dude was so cool, he only wanted 1/2 a taco! only half!

....Anyway, the tour also features the very talented Treasure Fingers - another representative of Brooklyn, who makes his living DJing and producing. He is also signed to ATRAK's record label, Fool's Gold.

And last but definitely not least, I will Finally get the chance to see DeeJay extraordinaire, Alain Macklovitch, also known as A-TRAK. And if your memory serves you correctly again, you should recall seeing him display his skills at 15 on this very same website.

In typical d(d)w fashion, I never want to leave you guys empty-handed... Soooo, if you can't make it to the show tonight, be sure and pick up the 10,000 LB hamburger sampler here.

Cpt. Kavinsky

Vincent Belorgey a.k.a KAVINSKY has been bumping through my Soundsystem for the better half of This week. I ran across some of his work whilst looking for new music fer le blogg and I was quite impressed. You can never keep up with the DJ/electro artists coming out nowadays, but Kavinsky's sound is a break from the norm. His sound is more equivalent to being in an intense police chase, after a full night of whiskey and cocaine consumption. Needless to say, shit is doooope.

Check out his video for Testarossa Autodrive, directed by the oh-so-talented french duo Jonas & François..

Before you go, be sure to pick up Testarossa and the SebastiAn remixxx. Also, if tempted, check out more
of his tunes on his website.

Enjoy.

Vivienne Westwood Menswear - S/S 2010

Miss Westwood's genius goes without saying. Punk, Politics, Sex and The City (The Movie) - Vivienne has done it all and there are few corners that her influence hasn't reached. Here are some of my favorite looks from her Dark Knight-inspired (?) Spring/Summer 2010 Menswear collection from Milan fashion week..

(these are extra dope)

cat's got ya back

The verdict is still out on the über baggy, Farmer John denims. But, VW is usually way ahead of her time, so i'll give her the benefit of the doubt. She's also Vivienne Westwood...

ANd if you'd like to scope out even mooore looks from the 2010 Collection, check them out here.
