More Marlene.

Measuring Your Own Grave. The string of words pack a powerful punch. And that's just what South African painter Marlene Dumas had in mind for her latest exhibit. Measuring Your Own Grave is a mid-career retrospective of Dumas' work And is the first time the artist has brought her work to The States. Her paintings and the images they create can be very, very crude. Often looking unfinished and dirty. Just as crude, are the subjects she portrays - naked babies, corpses, prostitutes, black people, etc.

The tour for Marlene Dumas: Measuring Your Own Grave ends here in Houston and will be on display at the world-famous Menil Collection until the 21st of June. Here are some of my favorites...followed by a video of Ms. Marlene's thoughts on the instillation.
