Dub(do)Work mixtape - June 2009

d(d)w - 6/09

The third anniversary of the Dub(do)Work mixtape. I want to thank all of you who are still joining me in this wild excursion through the Blogosphere. I have a nice lineup this month for you guys and I can't go any further without pointing out a future chart-topper - Set Sail Prevail. This is a very special track for me, being rendered by one of my favorite Anglos of All Time, Mr. Antone Proler a.k.a The Turtle Tantrum. Be sure to pick up the song below and stop by his website for more of his soundssss.

Some other favorites include..."Qui est cette fille," which is really good if you're into dancing (check out more elctro jams at the KENYADIG site), J. Cole does a stellar job of holding his own against the Jigga man classic and I even threw in one of my favorite Dilla tracks to highlight the release of his New Cd. I hope you guys enjoy.

  1. Slate had a good article concerning Jay-Z's limpwristed attack on Auto-Tune. I do strongly dislike it but I think its even worse when someone tries to actually use it for pitch correction instead of just being a gimmick. I also though it was funny that you have a song off of 808s proceeding DOA.

As for the rest of the mixtape I feel like it may have its place in some coke-fueled late night party atmosphere but the grating nature of Lil Wayne is far too much to deal with in a normal state of mind. Turtle Tantrum seemed really dropped in and didn't really fit in with the fast paced nature of the majority of the tracks.

STAND BY FOR MORE OPINIONS THAT MATTER.
